Thornton Community Band is proud to provide three affiliated groups that our musicians can participate in outside of the regular community band setting. All three groups require dues to be paid to participate.
Thornton Big Band – Like the Community Band, the ensemble strives to provide a quality performance outlet for musicians of all ability levels while focusing on the numerous jazz styles (Swing, Latin, Blues, Funk, etc.) and improvisation skills. TBB meets the first and third Saturday mornings of the month. Subs are needed occasionally. Armando Solis is this group’s director.
Thornton Chamber Winds – The Thornton Community Band Chamber Winds is a double woodwind quintet with pairs of flutes, oboes, bassoons, horns and clarinets. The repertoire includes original music and arrangements of orchestral overtures featuring music from Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, Dvorak, Gounod, Joplin, Gossec, Holst, Strauss, Brahms,
Arnold, Hubert, Sullivan, and Bizet. The Chamber Winds performs several times a year in the community for recitals or special events and looks to collaborate with other chamber groups. CW rehearses the first and third Saturday mornings and subs are
needed occasionally. Ned Avery is this group’s director.
Thornton Brass Ensemble – Description coming soon. Mike Gill is this group’s director.
